
Atlanta police are currently investigating the death of a 62-year-old man found inside a northwest Atlanta home during a welfare check last Saturday afternoon. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, officers were called to a residence on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW around 12:53 p.m. and discovered the man with what appeared to be a fatal gunshot wound.
Details surrounding the incident are scant, with the Atlanta Police Department working to quickly piece together what occurred. The victim, whose identity is not yet made public, was found in an apartment building situated in the 590 block of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW, a detail confirmed by Atlanta News First. Police have yet to identify any suspects and the motive for the shooting remains unclear as the investigation is ongoing.
In their response to the welfare check, officers arrived roughly at 12:45 p.m., as reported by Atlanta News First. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, which will aid detectives in establishing the exact circumstances of the shooting.
