Drivers in Belle Chasse should prepare for lane closures as the bridge and tunnel replacement project enters a new phase of construction. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, closures will affect LA-23, Engineers Road, Barriere Road, and related intersections, including the bulb out at Burmaster.
Beginning tomorrow from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., the northbound and southbound inside lanes from Dale Street to L Street will be closed. These closures will repeat on subsequent nights throughout the week. Q Street is expected to reopen tomorrow or on Wednesday depending on completion of striping work.
Closures will continue Wednesday and Thursday nights following the same schedule. On Sunday, work is scheduled to begin in the evening, but weather or logistical factors may cause an earlier start. The focus will again be on the northbound and southbound inside lanes from Dale Street to L Street.
