
On Sunday around 6:30 p.m., a bicyclist died in a crash at Washington Park near Southwest Sacajawea Boulevard and Southwest Lewis and Clark Circle. Police said the adult male, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding a BMX-style bike with a group descending the hill when he tried to pass through a narrow gap between two boulders and crashed. The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team responded to investigate, according to the City of Portland.
The identity of the cyclist has not been released. Portland Police have not shared additional details, including why the cyclist attempted the maneuver or the condition of the trail at the time. The investigation is still ongoing, as reported by the City of Portland.
Portland Police are asking for help from anyone who saw the crash or has information about it. The Traffic Division is handling the case under number 25-238736, as stated by the City of Portland.
