The Boston Police Department recently paid a visit to the Boston College High School Youth Summer Camp, an event that was geared towards fostering a closer relationship between law enforcement and young community members. According to the department’s website, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force, Bureau of Community Engagement, and the BPD SWAT Team, along with Copper the Comfort Dog and the BPD Ice Cream Truck, made an unexpected appearance at the camp.
During this unique engagement, campers were given the chance to genuinely interact with the officers, spend time with the comfort dog, and familiarly get up close with equipment like the BPD BearCat vehicle. Dressing up in real police gear was another activity on offer. To sweeten the encounter, the youngsters enjoyed complimentary ice cream, a treat brought to the event by the Boston Police Foundation and HP Hood.
