A tragic incident left a Brentwood teenager dead after an electric motorcycle crash in Nashville. According to WSMV, 15-year-old Cheathan Babu was riding the motorcycle at a high rate of speed on the sidewalk of Old Hickory Boulevard near High Lea Road when he lost control; he was subsequently thrown from the bike, hitting a fire hydrant and suffering fatal injuries.
The crash, which took place last Saturday, led to the teenager's death the following morning at Vanderbilt, as reported by WKRN, highlighting concerns over traffic safety on Old Hickory Boulevard, coming just days after another fatal hit-and-run involving 33-year-old James Sellars. In statements obtained by the news outlet, Metro Councilmember Jeff Eslick expressed intentions of seeking better enforcement of speeding laws throughout the city, with a particular focus on the boulevard where the incidents occurred.
In their investigation, the Metro Nashville Police Department found that Babu's inexperience and reckless driving contributed to the crash, as the youth was estimated to be traveling as fast as 40 to 50 miles per hour on the sidewalk. This information was corroborated by an eyewitness, with the details being shared by FOX 17 following the unfortunate event.
