Heads up, Carver County kiddos! The local parks department is aiming to help you hit the bullseye with your extracurricular activities this semester. According to a social media post by Carver County Parks, there's a new after-school archery series on the prowl, perfect for children ages 9 to 14 looking to learn the art of the arrow in a safe and social setting.
The series kicks off on October 6 and continues through October 20, every Monday like clockwork, with each session running from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. where sharp-eyed young archers can master everything from range safety and the perfect archer's stance to nailing their aiming and release with prowess, young Hawkeyes will get the chance to practice with both compound and recurve bows, and don't sweat if you don't own any gear – they've got all the equipment provided so you just need to show up ready to sling some arrows and maybe make a few new friends.
This outdoor adventure takes place at the scenic Lakeview Pavilion within Lake Minnewashta Regional Park, with the final session set to be held at the Carver Archery Range in Victoria; it's an opportunity for youth in the area to experience nature while developing a valuable skill set. Registration is open, but spots are as limited as arrows in a quiver, so it's best to shoot for a spot sooner rather than later, with a registration fee of $45.
