
Antonio Gilford, a 24-year-old man from the 6900 block of S. Clyde Ave., Chicago, faces several felony charges stemming from an incident that occurred last month. According to the Chicago Police Department, Gilford was identified as the individual who allegedly fired a weapon into an occupied vehicle on August 15, 2025, in the 2000 block of E. 71st St.
The police reported that after the shooting, officers witnessed Gilford fleeing the scene, during which gunfire was exchanged, and Gilford was believed to have been hit. Nevertheless, the injuries he incurred were non-life threatening. Gilford then sought medical attention at a nearby hospital but left before receiving full treatment. His arrest took place on September 4, 2025,, after further inquiry by the Investigative Response Team.
Gilford's charges, as outlined by authorities, include two counts of attempted first-degree murder, one count of aggravated assault with a firearm on a peace officer, one count of aggravated unlawful possession of a loaded weapon without a Firearm Concealed Carry Act (FCCA) license, and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle. A warrant for his arrest was subsequently issued.
A detention hearing was held on September 6, 2025, at 2600 S.
