Residents in the Woodlawn neighborhood are being warned of an attempted child luring incident that occurred yesterday, which is currently under investigation by the Chicago Police Department. A community alert issued by the CPD detailed an unsettling encounter involving a 14-year-old girl and an unidentified male suspect driving a black sedan.
The incident, as reported, unfolded while the teenage girl was walking on the 6300 block of S. Langley on September 18, 2025, between 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. According to the alert, the suspect exited his vehicle, gave her a hug, and tried unsuccessfully to coerce the victim to enter his car. The girl was able to continue walking but was approached again further down the block, where the perpetrator attempted to physically pull her into the vehicle.
Scouting the safety of their children, local parents and guardians must now be doubly vigilant. The Chicago Police Department has released a description of the suspect: an African American male, approximately 30-35 years old, 5'9", weighing 210 lbs., with a dark complexion and twists hairstyle. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black pants. Witnesses or individuals with information are encouraged to step forward and help ensure the community's collective safety.
In light of this recent attempt, authorities are urging the public "to be aware of this crime and alert family, friends and coworkers who live in or frequent the area," as mentioned in the police alert.
