The Humboldt Park area of Chicago's 25th (Grand Central) District has seen a recent uptick in strong-armed robberies, with at least two incidents reported in the past weeks. According to a community alert from the Chicago Police Department, the perpetrators have accosted victims on the sidewalk, using force to rob them of their belongings before fleeing the scene.
One robbery occurred on the 1700 block of N. Kedvale on August 31, 2025, at 8:47 p.m., and the other on the 4200 block of W. Wabansia on September 6, 2025, at 5:58 p.m. With the victims battered, the offenders then took off with various personal items. The police are on the lookout for two African American males believed to be between 15 and 17 years old, with the first suspect described as around 5'10"-5'11" with black braided hair and the second suspect as approximately 5'6"-5'7" with a black hair afro style.
In response to these crimes, authorities are issuing recommendations to help prevent further incidents. People in the community should keep their properties well-lit, be vigilant about crime, and notify nearby businesses to be on the alert. Suspicious activities are to be reported immediately. "Report suspicious activity immediately," the police department advises, indicating the gravity of the situation, wanting to prevent another victim from being accosted on a presumably safe sidewalk.
