A deadly shooting disrupted the calm of Mount Washington, Cincinnati, yesterday afternoon, leaving two individuals dead and two others critically injured. As FOX19 reports, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on the 1500 block of Beacon Street. The two deceased were found at the scene, while the other two, including the gunman, were taken to UC Medical Center in critical condition. The police, while speaking to reporters, confirmed that there is currently no active threat to the community.

A neighbor, Brandon Reynolds, recounted the chaos, telling WLWT, "I heard some booms, which I thought was, you know, people practicing for tonight for the holiday," then "I heard a series of more shots, and then I saw, you know, many police cars come down the street to secure the area." As details emerged, it was learned that the shooter had fired upon individuals both inside and outside of an apartment building near the intersection with Glade Lane and had subsequently attempted suicide.

Local residents are struggling to come to terms with the violence in what is typically a peaceful community. "This is the first time where we've had a multiple shooting that I can remember. And I lived in the Mt. Washington area for the most part of close to 40 years," Jerry Corbett, a longtime resident, shared in an account with WLWT. Meanwhile, Tiffany Bush expressed her concern over the proximity of the shooting to her home, mentioning the tight-knit nature of the community and frequency of pedestrians, as well as the abundance of children in the area.

The Cincinnati Police Department has not yet released the identities of the shooter or the victims. Lt. Jonathan Cunningham described the somber resonance of the event, stating to WCPO, "Truly a tragedy today. The pain is very widespread, being felt by those involved, by our officers, by the residential community here. It's very sad." The investigation into the circumstances of the shooting remains ongoing, as authorities continue to piece together the motive and series of events that led to the tragedy.
