Tragedy struck a Clayton County intersection in mid-August, when a 42-year-old man named Antonio Lee Williams was fatally shot in the afternoon. According to FOX5 Atlanta, officers responded to the scene at East Conley Road and Highway 42 around 4 p.m., where they found Williams with gunshot wounds. Despite a witness performing CPR, Williams was pronounced dead on the scene.
Witness accounts depict a scene of cold premeditation—where an SUV, having been spotted circling the neighborhood, pulled up next to Williams who was outside his vehicle. As reported by FOX5 Atlanta, two shots were fired from inside the SUV. Trying to get back into his car, Williams collapsed.
In the wake of the shooting, a juvenile was found inside Williams' vehicle prior to the incident. A conversation with the juvenile’s mother revealed that she had an argument with Williams the day before the shooting, and he had left with her child, professing he was going to get a gun. However, further details about the argument or the mysterious additional witness she mentioned remain elusive. No arrests have been made and the motive is unknown, with an investigation by the Clayton County Police still in progress.
