Clayton County authorities are actively seeking the public's assistance in tracking down murder suspect Teon Smith, who remains at large following a fatal shooting at a popular nightclub in Jonesboro. On the early morning of May 21, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported, 22-year-old victim Jaden Pierce was killed outside the Skyboxx ATL, after a confrontation with Smith, 27, and Xavier Pickett, 18, which escalated to robbery and murder.
While Pickett is currently detained and awaits his court date at the Clayton County Jail, Smith is still free and faces serious charges including murder and robbery, and Clayton County police have not yet been able to apprehend him, prompting a reward offer for information leading to his arrest, which may qualify for up to a $5,000 reward, Atlanta News First disclosed this information earlier this week.
The Clayton County Police Department are exchanging information via multiple channels, including the Crime Stoppers Atlanta platform, where anonymous tipsters can report any relevant details known about Smith's current location—they can contact the police directly at 770-477-3747 or anonymously submit tips by calling 404-577-TIPS (8477), or online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org, as they continue their pursuit of justice and resolution to this case.
Underlining the urgency of their request, the police remind the community that immediate contact via 911 is appropriate if you encounter Smith, considering the gravity of his alleged crimes. Both FOX 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First reiterate the police message that, by assisting in bringing a suspect to account, individuals not only contribute to the criminal justice process but also potentially restore a sense of safety to the local community, which has been shaken by the violent act outside Skyboxx ATL and subsequently shadowed by the search for Smith.
