A fatal stabbing occurred early Friday last week at the Budgetel Inn on Circle 75 Parkway in Cobb County, days after a baby was killed at the same location. Police found 45-year-old Amatrian Hawkins and 19-year-old Janiyah Jenkins of Atlanta with stab wounds. Hawkins died shortly after arriving at the hospital, while Jenkins was listed in stable condition with a hand injury.
A 46-year-old Frank Moore of Atlanta faces charges of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony. Police said the incident was domestic in nature and that Moore knew the victims, though their exact relationship has not been disclosed. Moore fled but was later arrested by Atlanta police, as per Atlanta News First
In a separate case at the same motel, FOX 5 Atlanta states that two additional suspects, Jayvion Young and Camron Harris, have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 9-month-old Aziah McDougle. They join previously arrested 22-year-old Ladarrius Brown. Police said the shooting was aimed at another person but struck the child and the mother, who were bystanders.
The police have logged more than 300 calls at the Budgetel Inn and 200 at the neighboring Western Inn over the past year for incidents such as thefts, fights, stabbings, and prowlers. Despite the recent violence, police said that the Budgetel Inn does not meet the criteria for a nuisance property and that officers are working with motel management to review and strengthen safety measures.
