Starting on the evening of Friday, October 3, at 7 p.m., and continuing through October 6, until 6 a.m., road warriors will need to navigate through reduced lanes between Missouri Route 763 and U.S. Route 63, as reported by Missouri Department of Transportation. This traffic snag is part of the department's ongoing efforts to enhance the I-70 corridor.
I-70 eastbound near Boone County Route B will have lane closures as part of the Missouri Department of Transportation’s (MoDOT) Improve I-70: Columbia to Kingdom City project. All ramps in the area will remain open, and drivers are advised to slow down, stay alert, and follow work zone safety rules.
The project includes adding a third lane to a 20-mile stretch, along with pavement improvements and upgraded interchanges at U.S. Routes 63 and 54. Funded by the Missouri FY2024 budget, the wider Improve I-70 program covers nearly 200 miles from Blue Springs to Wentzville, including planning, design, construction, and reconstruction.
