
Tragedy struck on SR-50 near mile marker 136 on Monday evening, as a Ford F250 box truck veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with a motorcycle, killing both riders, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety. The accident occurred around 4:54 pm and claimed the lives of a 69-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman who were riding an eastbound 2016 BMW K1600 motorcycle when the truck crossed the centerline.
Investigators are considering speed and drowsy driving as the key factors behind the crash, while the driver of the Ford F250 sustained minor injuries and was sent to the hospital for evaluation, the circumstances leading up to the accident remain under official scrutiny. Traffic on SR-50 was heavily affected by the crash; it was reduced to a single alternating lane for about five hours, causing significant delays during the evening commute.
