A tragic incident unfolded in DeKalb County as 36-year-old Anna Scott was shot and killed after confronting suspected burglars at her home. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, police responded to the scene in the 3700 block of Citation Drive late Saturday night, finding Scott with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
Investigators believe Scott confronted the culprits after seeing them on her doorbell camera trying to break into her residence. Her Jeep was discovered, peppered with bullet holes and parked mere inches from her front porch. In a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta, a neighbor expressed their disbelief at the rapid gunfire that shook their normally quiet community. Another resident, Jerome Willis said, "That's very shocking, because this is a quiet neighborhood and nobody hardly get in any trouble around here, so I don't understand."
Doorbell footage also captures the heartbreaking moments after the shooting, showing neighbors rushing to Scott's aid as she called for help. Additionally, WSB-TV reported on community reactions, noting that Scott was described as a "beautiful soul" whose passing has left the neighborhood shaken. Willis told WSB-TV, "I'm just so sorry to hear about her passing away. I'm so sorry to hear about that," emphasizing the urgency for authorities to locate the suspect responsible for the senseless act.
The DeKalb County Police Department is seeking assistance from the public to identify the suspects. A photo of one of the alleged burglars has been released, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the authorities directly or provide an anonymous tip through the Tip411 app, by texting "DKPD" to 847411, followed by the tip.
