The Detroit Police Department is actively seeking help from the public in locating a missing 62-year-old man, Karl Williams Sr., who is reported to have schizophrenia. Williams was last known to be on Jefferson Avenue, near Grand Boulevard, on June 6, and his disappearance was reported to the authorities yesterday. ClickOnDetroit published the initial report, providing details of Williams' appearance, including his height, at 5 feet, 5 inches, and his weight, roughly 160 pounds.
As concern grows over his safety, the Detroit Police Department has intensified its efforts to locate Williams. In a post shared on their official Facebook page, the Detroit Police Department's Missing Persons Unit appealed to the community for any information regarding his whereabouts. They urge anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the urgency given Williams' condition.
Williams' sister, who has expressed her concern for her brother's well-being, informed authorities that he suffers from schizophrenia. This mental health condition, marked by episodes of psychosis and impairment in daily functioning, adds a layer of distress to his disappearance, underlining the importance of locating him promptly.
The police have not yet released any leads or updates on the case. The community, requested by the Detroit Police Department, is asked to aid in the search, and they are hopeful that public participation will bring new information to light. People who might have seen Karl Williams Sr. or who possess any details about his movements since June 6 are encouraged to contact the Detroit Police Department's 7th Precinct at 313-596-5740 or to reach out anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
