Utah's educational landscape has witnessed a notable shift as Dr. Molly Hart steps in as the new state superintendent of public instruction, a position she's held since July 1. According to Canyons School District, Hart, who transitioned to Utah after a stint in Georgia's education system, attributes much of her success to her formative years in Canyons School District (CSD).
Hart's connection to CSD is more than nostalgic; it is a foundation that has shaped her approach to educational leadership. "What is built in Canyons is really special and I carry and use the lessons that I learned with me every day," Hart told Canyons School District. Her tenure in Utah education includes a cumulative 25 years of experience, including her roles as a principal in the CSD and on the Utah State Board of Education for nine years.
Her career has been punctuated by numerous recognitions, the apex being the 2024 Elected Official of the Year Apex Award from CSD, an honor that left her "shocked." In reflection upon the award, Hart said to Canyons School District, "I did it because I wanted things to be better and, extraordinary for our teachers. Really and truly, that's why I ran in the first place. And then to have that recognized by Canyons, that was so meaningful to me."
