In the early hours of the morning, a significant fire broke out in a residential area of South Boston, displacing four individuals and causing an estimated $700,000 in damages. According to a post from Boston Fire, the blaze was reported at a 2.5 story wood frame townhome located at 522 E. Fifth St., where firefighters had to navigate through a narrow alleyway to combat flames that were visible at the rear of the building.

The initial call came in at about 2:30 am, prompting a rapid response from local fire companies who arrived on scene to find smoke enveloping the premises. Despite the complicated access caused by a tight alleyway, fire crews managed to reach and address the fire. Displaced by the incident, the four residents found themselves facing the sudden realization of home becoming a scorched memory.
Later, Boston Fire Department shared an update that the fire crews were clearing out of the fire scene after managing to suppress the flames. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, a sigh of relief amidst the chaos that often accompanies such emergencies.
