A disturbing case from El Paso County, Texas, has emerged involving a man's attempt to solicit sexual acts from a minor. According to a social media post by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Oscar Ugarte reported that 47-year-old Joe Hector Miranda of Fabens, Texas, was arrested on Thursday, after deputies responded to a call regarding a disturbance on SE River St.
The incident involved a 13-year-old victim, who alleged that Miranda offered money to view the minor's genitalia. The deputies, who were dispatched from the Peter J. Herrera Patrol Station at approximately 4:42 PM that day, located Miranda near the scene of the reported crime. As the investigation unfolded, it was discovered that Miranda is on the sex offender registry and had been implicated in similar allegations earlier in the year.
Based on the findings of their preliminary investigation, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office took Miranda into custody, where he was charged with Criminal Solicitation of a Minor and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. In the interest of public safety and due process, the Sheriff's Office has appealed to the public for any additional information regarding Miranda's activities that could assist in the ongoing case. Notably, Miranda currently remains incarcerated under a no-bond status.
