El Paso has once again been reminded of the fragility of life on the road, this time with the 41st traffic fatality of the year. The El Paso Police Department's Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit reported that they were called to I-10 West, near mile marker 33, on August 31st to examine the aftermath of a crash involving a motorcycle and a vehicle.
The investigation thus far has determined that the motorcycle was struck from behind by Marissa Arlene Dominguez, which led to the rider, Rodriguez, being ejected and subsequently succumbing to fatal injuries sustained during the accident, although the event is still under scrutiny by the STI, the specifics of such incidents seem too often repeated, a sudden collision, an unexpected death, the shuttering of another world, according to the El Paso Police Department.
In response to the findings, a warrant was signed by Judge Duke for the arrest of Dominguez, charging her with manslaughter and setting her bond at $100,000. As of September 11th, Dominguez has been taken into custody and is now held at the El Paso County Detention Facility.
