Following a tenacious pursuit by the East Montana Patrol Station deputies, a 19-year-old suspect found himself in cuffs this past week on multiple charges, including narcotics possession and evading arrest. This was confirmed by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office via a social media post by El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte. The initial encounter occurred on Monday, when a white BMW, helmed by the suspect, Octavio Cardoza Jr., skirted a traffic stop in El Paso, leading deputies on a chase that extended beyond the intersection of Mark Jason and Buffalo Bill.
Cardoza's evasion spree didn't start there; he has seemingly made a habit of fleeing from law enforcement, with a similar incident tracking back to August 26. Deputies again engaged in a fruitless chase, but added to the records another notch on Cardoza's belt of evading incidents. The combined efforts of detective work and surveillance operations culminated yesterday with Cardoza's arrest, the Office detailed.
Once lodged at the El Paso County Detention Facility, Cardoza faced his new reality: two counts of Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle with a $10,000 bond, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Group 2, and one count of Manufacturing and Delivery of Controlled Substances, both charges which he cannot bond out from the gravity of his actions beginning to mount in a stockpile of consequences.
