
Residents near the 3800 block of San Pablo Avenue in Emeryville were awoken by the sound of gunfire this morning. The Emeryville Police Department reported receiving a call at approximately 1:12 a.m., leading officers to the scene where they found evidence of a shooting. An investigation indicated that the violence stemmed from a verbal altercation that escalated out of control, with one male victim sustaining gunshot wounds.
According to the official statement, as the suspects tried to escape in a vehicle, UC Berkeley Police Department officers, who were in the vicinity, apprehended them without further incident. Despite the swift response, the grim aftermath revealed that the victim later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
