Residents and visitors in Sevierville should brace for heavier traffic than usual around Walters State Community College today and tomorrow. An advisory issued by the Sevierville Police Department warns of expected congestion due to a cross-country running event taking place from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on September 8-9.
Notorious for stoking impatient rush-hour spirits, traffic will likely swell on Old Newport Highway, Highway 416/Pittman Center Road, and Ernest McMahan Road. The event adds a layer of complexity to the typical commute, encouraging locals to seek alternate paths. "Motorists traveling in this area are advised to expect delays, plan for additional travel time, consider alternate routes, and watch for pedestrians," the Sevierville Police Department stated.
