The sleepy streets of Falmouth were jolted awake early Friday morning as local and state law enforcement agencies descended upon multiple locations in a coordinated strike against cocaine trafficking. According to a social media post by the Falmouth Police Department, the operation was the culmination of a nine-month investigation targeting 61-year-old Michael Lutfy of Falmouth.
Officials report that on September 5, just as the sun prepared to make its daily plea for the world's attention, officers located Lutfy in his vehicle on Locust Street, where he attempted to elude authorities, discarding what was alleged to be narcotics as he tried hastily to vanish in a growing daylight but the pursuit ceased quickly on Depot Road, where they managed to bring the vehicle, and Lutfy's brief flight from the law, to an end. Arrested and charged with several offenses, including Trafficking in Cocaine and Obstruction of Justice, Lutfy now faces the judicial reckoning for his actions.
Concurrent with Lutfy's arrest, law enforcement executed searches at locations on Greengate Road and East Falmouth Highway, where they discovered cocaine, cash, and items typical of narcotics distribution. The findings paint a grim portrait of the narcotics trade, one that weaves into the fabric of any community, hidden yet pervasive.
