
A fatal traffic incident occurred on I-40 West near Papermill Drive in Knoxville, causing severe congestion on Monday night, the Knoxville Police Department said. The crash, which involved two vehicles, took place approximately at 8 p.m., causing substantial delays for motorists travelling through the area. One of the drivers, a woman whose identity has not been disclosed, was ejected from her car during the event and was subsequently transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, as reported by WVLT-TV.
Despite medical efforts, the woman died from her injuries, the Knoxville Police Department said, according to WBIR. The department is investigating the incident. Traffic was affected, and all lanes reopened after 10 p.m.
The Knoxville Police Department reported a serious crash that blocked two lanes and advised drivers to expect delays and use alternate routes.
