In a troubling development out of Magna, Utah, two individuals, Adeeb Nasir, 58, and Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir, 31, are in custody following their alleged involvement in a terrorism-related incident. The FBI took the pair into custody after discovering an incendiary device placed under a FOX 13 News vehicle, FOX 13 reported. The device, which was found on Friday and had failed to activate, prompted a significant response due to the potential threat to public safety.
The situation escalated when, upon serving a warrant, authorities were compelled to evacuate a neighborhood in Magna overnight, according to The Salt Lake Tribune. The FBI, which assumed jurisdiction over the case, cited the nature and location of the device as justification for the level of concern and the subsequent actions. Both Adeeb and Adil Nasir are now facing serious charges, including Threat of Terrorism, Possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction, and Possessing Explosive Devices.
Further complicating matters is the background of the two accused. Adeeb Nasir is reportedly restricted from possessing firearms due to a protective order associated with illegal drug use. Adil Justice Ahmed Nasir also finds himself categorized as a restricted person for reasons related to narcotics, as detailed by ABC4. The nature of the relationship between the Nasirs remains undisclosed.
