Scott County is offering a serene lakeside solution that you might find inviting. Cleary Lake will be the backdrop for an evening of qigong, an ancient Chinese health practice, on the fall equinox, Monday, September 22, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Local teaching artist Scott Stafford is set to guide attendees through movements aimed to harmonize with nature's rhythms. The session, designed for participants 16 and older, promises to provide a reprieve from the daily grind with a combination of breathwork and gentle movement.
This equinox event is slated to celebrate balance when day and night are equal in length—a fitting time to also seek personal equilibrium. Stafford's class intends to gently cater to both newcomers and those already familiar with tai chi and qigong forms. According to the Scott County website, "this class will offer techniques for quieting the mind and easing the body." Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat or towel for seating, to comfortably engage in both seated and standing sequences.
The session cost is an accessible $10, and reservations are a must. To ensure a spot in this moment of lakeside Zen, dial 763-559-6700.
