
Early Wednesday morning, a blaze tore through an abandoned mobile home in Las Cruces at the juncture of Elks Drive and Engler Road, causing significant structural damage to the property. According to the Las Cruces Fire Department, the emergency call was placed at around 10:30 a.m., and firefighters were swiftly dispatched to the scene.
Upon the firefighters' hurried arrival, they encountered flames engulfing the single-wide mobile home, which was quickly being consumed by the fire, and they set to work extinguishing the blaze, succeeding in quelling the fire within a few short minutes; subsequently, a search confirmed that the mobile home was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Despite the potential for injury in such circumstances, the department reported that no individuals were harmed due to the fire.
The mobile home, which had been abandoned, was thoroughly searched post-extinguishment of the fire to ensure that no individuals were inside or in immediate danger. Las Cruces Fire Department officials are currently assessing the extent of the damage to provide a conclusive estimate, and the investigation into what sparked the initial flames is actively ongoing.
