The Fishers Police Department recently took to the streets for a traffic blitz, in what could be seen as a proactive approach towards road safety in the town of Fishers. The operation took place along 116th Street, stretching from I-69 to Eller Road, and spanned a mere 90 minutes. In that time, police made 27 traffic stops, with the most egregious violator clocking in at 21 miles per hour over the speed limit.
The short enforcement blitz was part of an ongoing effort to promote safer streets within the community, not just through mandatory compliance, but also via engagement with the public. Details shared through the department's social media post note that, in addition to pulling over speeders, officers had "several positive conversations with drivers about road safety."
The Fishers Police relayed that "many drivers were already following the posted speed limits," a finding that indicates at least some adherence to the road rules by members of the Fishers community. Each traffic stop was seen as "an opportunity to prevent crashes and protect our community," according to the Fishers Police Department. Their message concludes with a thanks to the residents who complied with the law, setting "a great example for safe driving in Fishers." Ultimately, the department's message is clear: "slower speeds = safer streets."
