
Former Republican U.S. Rep. David Jolly is receiving support from Democrats in his 2026 bid for Florida governor. Coral Springs Talk reports that 40 current and former Democratic officials from Broward County have endorsed him, including Sen. Tina Polsky and Rep. Dan Daley.
According to Florida Politics, Broward Mayor Beam Furr, State Rep. Robin Bartleman, Rep. Dan Daley and several school board members have also endorsed Jolly. Furr stated that Jolly can engage Democrats, appeal to independents and Republicans, and address Florida’s affordability issues.
Jolly has support from more than 60 current and former Democratic elected officials. His campaign emphasizes veterans, seniors, environmental protection, law enforcement, affordability, insurance, and public schools. He is also known for his political analysis on MSNBC and criticism of former President Donald Trump.
Jolly’s strategy highlights cross-party support as he seeks to become a leading Democratic candidate in the 2026 governor’s race. He faces over two dozen candidates, including U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds and former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner. Jolly said that Broward County is essential for a Democratic path to victory in Florida.
Coral Springs Talk reports that the Democratic field continues to expand, while Republicans Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and First Lady Casey DeSantis are rumored to be considering runs as Gov. Ron DeSantis nears the end of his term. The primary election is scheduled for August 18, 2026, and the general election for November 3.
