Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler is facing a lawsuit following a traffic incident last October, which resulted in him pleading guilty to driving under the influence. Morgan & Morgan, the law firm handling the suit, asserts that their client, Perry Lee, was rear-ended by Cutler on Bridge Street in Franklin on October 18, 2024. According to WSMV, Cutler was following Lee at an unsafe distance and speed before the crash.
The lawsuit, filed in Williamson County Circuit Court, also notes that Cutler was driving his vehicle while under the influence when the collision occurred. Other allegations include that Cutler attempted to offer Lee $2,000 to avoid police involvement, as detailed in a police affidavit. Cutler has reportedly accepted a plea deal related to his DUI case. His plea deal included four days of jail time, while a gun charge, present due to possession of a handgun while intoxicated, was dropped, as per information obtained by WKRN.
Lee, represented by attorney Sydney Pierce from Morgan & Morgan, claims the crash has caused him ongoing pain and significantly impacted his quality of life. He is a veteran, and the lawsuit suggests the impact of the crash extends well beyond physical injuries. "Our client is a veteran who was injured in a car crash due to the alleged negligence of another driver. His injuries from the crash cause him daily pain and have eroded his quality of life. We are seeking justice for him so he can get the care he needs and try to move forward with his life," said Morgan & Morgan, as stated by WKRN. Details of the lawsuit state that the Williamson County man seeks to recover compensatory damages in excess of $25,000.
