A former Pinellas Park police officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual conversations with a girl believed to be 11 years old. According to a WTSP report, 73-year-old Gary Mygdal was taken into custody following an investigation that revealed he intended to meet the minor for sexual activity.

The arrest was the result of a sting operation wherein Mygdal is reported to have made arrangements to visit what he believed was the child's home. He was apprehended at 13200 49th Street N, the planned meeting spot. The former officer, according to an IONTB report, believed he was communicating with the minor when in reality, he was likely dealing with undercover officers.

Addressing the gravity of these events, Pinellas Park Police Chief Adam Geissenberger condemned the actions, saying, "This case underscores our commitment to protecting children from predators. The facts are disturbing, and I want the community to know our officers and detectives will continue to pursue anyone who tries to exploit minors." In a statement shared by FOX 13 News, Geissenberger added, "No one is above the law, and we will hold offenders accountable regardless of their past positions or affiliations."

Mygdal has been arrested in connection with alleged criminal activity involving children. Law enforcement officials stated that the investigation is ongoing and emphasized their commitment to pursuing justice in the case.
