Fort Collins is gearing up for a day of community, connection, and car-free streets with its 10th annual Open Streets event. Scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 14, the celebration will take place on Lady Moon Drive, from Le Fever Drive to Shallow Pond Drive, offering a day filled with activities that promise to engage all ages from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Those attending will be treated to live music, interactive arts, and a medley of cultural activities, along with classes aimed at promoting fitness and wellness from local experts. Foodies can rejoice as a lineup of food and dessert trucks will be serving up a selection of local eats to satisfy various palates, according to the City of Fort Collins.
The Open Streets initiative underscores not just the temporary reclaiming of the thoroughfare from the dominion of automobiles, but also the ongoing efforts to encourage active transportation habits like biking, walking, and skating. "Open Streets offers numerous benefits, from fostering social cohesion to inspiring a fresh perspective on our built environment and promoting active transportation," said AnnMarie Kirkpatrick, City of Fort Collins Active Modes Specialist, as obtained by the City of Fort Collins.
