Fort Lauderdale residents and commuters take note: starting October 17, NW 15th Avenue is getting a safety and mobility makeover. This bustling stretch from West Sunrise Boulevard to Mills Pond Park will see a range of improvements, including new ADA-compliant ramps, upgraded crosswalks, and expanded sidewalks. The city's announcement outlined the specifics of the project, which also calls for enhancements to roadway drainage, intersections and fresh street lighting and landscaping.
The project is expected to conclude by mid-August 2026 and will mainly take place during daytime hours, with workers on site from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. While weather and other daily variables could affect the schedule, the aim is to improve the roadway for both pedestrians and drivers. Motorists and residents should anticipate some temporary disruptions. Traffic will likely take a hit, particularly with partial closures rolling out in phases as the project unfolds.
City officials and FG Construction, the company helming the upgrades, are calling for public cooperation through what is bound to be a period of growing pains. "Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area," they urge, signaling a partnership between the construction efforts and those who move through this cityscape. For residents and commuters tracking local developments, staying updated on the project’s progress will be essential, as noted by the city's website.
