The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is actively looking into a shooting involving a law enforcement officer in Bibb County. In a recent confrontation at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Catrell Tywan Ford, aged 43, was shot and later pronounced dead at a local Macon hospital.
According to the GBI's official release, the incident took place on September 2, around 5 p.m., as deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office were conducting a homicide investigation relating to a separate shooting incident that occurred earlier in Macon/Bibb County, which resulted in one fatality and another person being severely injured. Ford was confronted by deputies who, per initial reports, engaged him as he allegedly brandished a firearm at them.
No deputies were harmed during the exchange, and the GBI was requested to take over the investigation into the officer-involved shooting. The original homicide case that led to the encounter in the cemetery remains under the jurisdiction of the local authorities. Identifying the deceased, Ford's name was withheld until the family was duly notified.
