Investigators from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) have stepped in to unravel the circumstances of yesterday morning's shooting. The Evans County Sheriff's Office requested their expertise for a case now linked to multiple incidents that appear connected by a pattern of violence.

Details provided by the GBI indicate that law enforcement was summoned around 4 a.m. to Church Street near Jones Street. Arriving on scene, they found a person with gunshot wounds, who was urgently escorted to a nearby hospital before being forwarded to Savannah for further treatment.

Emanating from a gathering on North College Street, a fight is said to have spilled blood and turmoil onto Church Street, leading to that first gunshot incident which was soon followed by related shootings on Jones Street and Savoy Road. Given the close succession and proximity, they are thought to be connected strands of the same violent sequence, according to the same press release.

This triad of shootings has prompted an active and full-fledged investigation by the GBI. Those in possession of any information that may illuminate the murky details leading up to, or following these shootings, are implored to reach out. The Evans County Sheriff's Office can be contacted directly, or tips may be given to the GBI's Statesboro Regional Investigative Office, called in at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477), or entered online through the GBI's tip submission portal. The agency has also made available a mobile app, See Something, Send Something, to facilitate the anonymous transfer of information from those who might fear retribution.

Upon completion of the investigation, the GBI will hand over the details of its findings to the Atlantic Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, which will then deliberate on the course of prosecution.
