As the Powerball jackpot reaches a staggering $1.3 billion, Georgia experiences a surge in smaller-scale winners. According to a report by FOX 5 Atlanta, the Labor Day weekend saw two tickets in Georgia claim $150,000 each, alongside five other $50,000 winners. The winners had matched four white numbers, the Powerball, and had the benefit of the Power Play multiplier in the Saturday, Aug. 30 drawing.
The prize pot continued to grow as no one claimed the jackpot in the following drawing. On Monday, the Georgia Lottery confirmed that 11 more tickets had won $50,000 each by matching four out of the five white ball numbers and the red Powerball, WSB Radio reported. These tickets did conspicuously not need to rely on the Power Play multiplier to increase their winnings.
The winning Powerball numbers drawn on Monday night were 08, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with Powerball number 05. The various winning tickets were purchased from a variety of locations across Georgia, spanning from 4 Mile Grocery in Mineral Bluff to Flash Food in Waycross.
Anticipation is building for the next drawing scheduled for today at 11:59 p.m. ET. Winners in Georgia are reminded they have 180 days from the draw date to claim their prizes, as pointed out by FOX 5 Atlanta.
