Residents of Gilroy and surrounding San Benito County neighborhoods may feel a little safer today following a successful narcotics operation by local law enforcement. In a joint effort by the Gilroy Police Department's Anti-Crime Team and the San Benito County CASPR Team, a significant bust was made at a residence on Murray Avenue in Gilroy, bringing a suspected narcotics trafficker's operations to a halt.
With a search warrant in hand, the investigators descended on the 7700 block, where they uncovered not only a large stash of narcotics but also a firearm. Operating through the streets of the city and beyond, into the quiet lives of the San Benito County residents, the suspect may have believed his actions went unnoticed until now.
The suspect in question, 23-year-old Gilroy resident Erick Munoz, was arrested due to the search. Officials have not yet revealed the types or quantities of narcotics recovered. The investigation into the extent of Munoz's activities and connections is ongoing, according to a social media post from the Gilroy Police Department.
