The city of Goodyear is making strides in cultivating the potential of its youth, with several initiatives designed to engage and empower the next generation of leaders, according to a recent feature in InFocus Magazine. Among these is Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Teen Center, a place where teens can indulge in their love for music and the arts for free, the initiative which kicked off in spring 2025 has already become a hub for the 12-20 year olds, providing an inclusive environment to foster their creative aspirations.

Adding to the city's youth-friendly venues, the Rec at the Goodyear Recreation Center, designed with teens in mind, the center doesn't charge anything for entrance offers a variety of video games, board games, and computers to engage its visitors; moreover, the Rec hosts special events throughout the year which are specifically curated by teens for teens, thereby handing them the rein to steer their social experiences. The pairing of entertainment with autonomy has proven a winning combination as it continues to draw in a steady crowd of teenagers looking for a place to connect and unwind.

The local Georgia T. Lord Library further elevates the city’s commitment to teen spaces, featuring an exclusive area for teenagers. This locale does more than house books it's an interactive zone equipped with all sorts of games and outfitted with funky, flexible seating options and a mural that exhibits the talent of a local teen artist, tapping into the multifaceted interests that today's young people harbor.

Bridging the gap between adolescence and adulthood, Goodyear has launched an internship program providing high school students an opportunity to dip their toes into the waters of city government, an invaluable experience to gain before stepping into the workforce or heading off to college, the program is complemented by GRC-U, a work readiness volunteer program which is evolving rapidly as it helps students develop the skills needed in professional environments by volunteering in various capacities at the Goodyear Rec Campus.
