New businesses are revving up to join the buzzing strip of GSQ—Goodyear's forthcoming downtown scene—riding on the coattails of the recent Nordstrom Rack announcement. Big names like Fogo de Chão and First Watch have thrown their hats in the ring, anticipating openings in 2026. Fogo de Chão, that Brazilian steakhouse that's all about the Churrasco experience, plans to set up shop at the southwest corner of Goodyear Way and Bullard Avenue.

"Arizona has shown tremendous enthusiasm for our authentic Brazilian Churrasco experience, and we are excited to bring our premium fire-roasted meats, abundant Market Table and warm Brazilian hospitality to Goodyear," Marcio Bonfada, Area Director of Fogo de Chão, told a Goodyear news release. Meanwhile, First Watch is gearing up to take over the northwest corner of Bullard and McDowell with its fresh, made-to-order breakfast and brunch offerings, complete with a patio and a bar for those lazy morning lattes and a locally inspired mural for aesthetic nourishment.

"We’re pleased to bring First Watch’s innovative daytime dining experience to the Goodyear community," Mike Lee, Regional Vice President of First Watch, said in a statement on the City of Goodyear website. It's just part of the parade of newcomers to GSQ, joined by California Fish Grill, CAVA, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, and even a 24-hour emergency animal hospital courtesy of VEG (Veterinary Emergency Group).

Goodyear's Mayor, Joe Pizzillo, isn't shy about the city's acceleration towards becoming a West Valley hotspot. "GSQ is rapidly becoming one of the West Valley’s premier destinations," he proclaimed, noting the remarkable growth and vibrancy exploding in the area. "The addition of these businesses reflects the remarkable growth and vibrancy taking place in Goodyear. Each brings something unique to our city square, offering even more opportunities for residents and visitors to gather, dine and enjoy all that GSQ has to offer," as mentioned on the City of Goodyear release.

The GSQ vision is a collaborative effort between RED Development and Globe Corp., aiming to transform downtown Goodyear into a walkable urban center chock-full of first-of-its-kind entertainment concepts, a sprinkle of both high-end and fast-casual eateries, nationally recognized retailers, and a few specialty shops just for kicks. With plans for multi-family residential units, extra office space, and a hotel, GSQ is on track to become more than just a passing fancy for locals and out-of-towners alike. And let's not forget the recently revealed additions of Trader Joe’s, Black Rock Coffee Bar, and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. GSQ is shaping up quite nicely—if the planners have anything to say about it.
