A tragic motor vehicle accident claimed the life of a 19-year-old in Hamblen County late Tuesday night. The Tennessee Highway Patrol identified the victim as Landon Roland, who was riding his motorcycle northbound on Interstate 81 around mile marker 11 when the crash occurred at approximately 11:50 p.m, reports WVLT.
Attempting to navigate between two other vehicles, Roland collided with a trailer being towed by a Chevy Silverado. According to a statement by THP in an article by WBIR, "Roland hit a trailer being pulled by a Chevy Silverado and was lodged on the trailer for a short distance." He was dislodged moments later, which resulted in him being thrown from his motorcycle.
Further details from the THP report, obtained by WATE, indicated that Roland was operating a 2008 Suzuki JS1 and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Despite the precautionary measure, the injuries he sustained proved fatal on the scene. The driver of the Silverado, 24-year-old Bradley Hayes Jr., is now facing legal trouble. He has been charged with driving on a revoked license.
