In a move that underscores the profound impact of localized healthcare services, Hennepin Health recently honored three providers for their exceptional contributions to Medicaid and MinnesotaCare recipients in Hennepin County. During an event held at the health plan's headquarters on September 17, awards were presented for outstanding advancements in access, disparities reduction, and community trust-building, according to a Hennepin Health bulletin.
Children’s Dental Services was commended for bringing dental care to the heart of downtown Minneapolis bi-monthly since 2024, offering a trusted and convenient option integrated with other county services. This strategic presence has helped Hennepin Health in its goal of boosting dental care utilization, a significant challenge for those on Medicaid and MinnesotaCare. Similarly, Dr. Paul Olin has been instrumental in the same domain, accounting for more than 1 in 20 member dental visits through his work with students at the University of Minnesota since 2024.
"Our providers radically shape the way people experience and view health care," Dr. Krishnan Subrahmanian, Hennepin Health Chief Medical Officer, remarked at the award ceremony. Meanwhile, Everyday Miracles earned plaudits for their extraordinary medical care services, which have led to nearly 600 visits and a range of offerings from prenatal to postpartum care, significantly contributing to the well-being of mothers and babies.
Commending the providers, Mike Herzing, Hennepin Health Chief Executive Officer, stated, “These providers exemplify what it means to partner in service of our community. Their work is transforming lives in Hennepin County, and we’re thrilled to recognize their impact.” This sentiment was echoed across the board as honorees Dr. Paul Olin, representatives from Everyday Miracles, and Children's Dental Services, stood alongside Dr. Subrahmanian and Herzing, evidencing the collective efforts that went into delivering exceptional care and service.
The ceremony not only served as a testament to the individual achievements of the awardees but also illustrated the substantial strides being made in tackling healthcare disparities, especially for the underserved sectors of the community. Sadiya Khan, accepting the award on behalf of Children's Dental Services, was among those recognized, underscoring her organization's commitment to improving health outcomes for children across Hennepin County.
