A high-speed pursuit in Baton Rouge ended with a car crash and the arrest of four individuals involved in a string of violent activities on Sunday. The incident unfolded early in the morning when a Ford Mustang struck a light pole and flipped on River Road, near Dort Street. Officers from the Louisiana Department of Public Safety responded to the emergency within minutes.
Investigations revealed that the crash was a result of a crime spree carried out by the four occupants of the vehicle. According to the report published by Louisiana State Police, prior to the accident, a series of violent offenses, including carjacking and battery, took place downtown. The suspects forcibly snatched a crossbody bag containing personal belongings and a 9mm pistol from two victims. In a brutal display of impunity, one assailant dragged a victim trapped in a car door, causing injuries before fleeing in the stolen vehicle, which he later abandoned for the Ford Mustang.
The aftermath of the destructive chase led to the immediate arrest of the wreck's occupants. Trevon Johnson, 26, was taken in for hit and run, reckless operation, purse snatching, aggravated battery, and theft of a firearm. His accomplices, Kriston Johnson, 20; Jayvon Washington, 19; and Johnny Milton, 18, face charges ranging from carjacking to various degrees of battery. The East Baton Rouge Parish Prison now houses these suspects as they await further proceedings on their numerous charges.
