In Horizon City, a routine traffic stop took an unexpected turn early this month, resulting in an arrest for intoxicated driving. According to a social media post by the Horizon City Police Department, officers reported pulling over a vehicle for an equipment violation in the wee hours of September 3rd. The driver, identified as Sergio Contreras, was found to show signs of intoxication during the stop.
The interaction occurred on the 14600 block of Horizon Blvd at approximately 2:13 AM. Contreras, after being stopped for what began as a minor equipment issue, was subsequently discovered to have outstanding traffic violation warrants with the court. The Horizon City Police Department has confirmed that these warrants carried a bond amount totaling $1,025.00. A press release from the department disclosed these details after the incident.
Further to the existing warrants, Contreras was also charged with Driving While Intoxicated and subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility. The Horizon City Police Department has taken this incident as a reminder to the community of the dangers of impaired driving, urging residents to be vigilant and not to hesitate in calling 911 if they suspect someone of driving while impaired. Officer C. Morales, mentioned in the press release, is listed as a point of contact for the public seeking more information on the incident.
