Tragedy struck Iberville Parish on Wednesday morning as a pedestrian was fatally injured in a hit-and-run crash. Louisiana State Police report that the incident occurred shortly before 7:00 a.m. on September 3, along LA 75 near Plaquemine. The victim was identified as 29-year-old Kade Dupree, a local resident, who tragically lost his life while walking along the roadway.
An ensuing investigation by Troop A troopers, with the collaboration, of the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, led to the identification of the suspect vehicle — a 2001 Ford F-150. The man behind the wheel was 46-year-old Richard Wagner of White Castle. Wagner now faces multiple charges, among them Felony Hit and Run, and Driving Under Suspension. He was promptly arrested and booked into the Iberville Parish Jail, according to a statement from the Louisiana State Police.
Toxicology results are still pending as the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab reviews evidence from the crash. As Wagner awaits the outcome of his case, the Parish Sheriff’s Office, and state troopers continue delving into the details of the crash. They solicit for anyone with helpful information to step forward, a move that could provide solace and perhaps a measure of closure for those mourning Dupree's untimely departure, as per the Louisiana State Police.
