Travelers through Rockwall County this coming week will need to prepare for a multitude of road closures and lane restrictions on Interstate 30, thanks to ongoing construction efforts. Information released by Rockwall County details the range of construction activities that are set to take place starting today through Saturday, September 13, primarily during overnight hours and midday periods. According to Rockwall County's official announcement, the I-30 will see weeklong overnight closures in both directions for various bridge and earthwork activities, along with the installation of a concrete safety barrier.
Specifically, these closures will affect the I-30 eastbound left lane from FM 548 to FM 2642 and the westbound left lane in the reverse direction. From nine at night to five in the morning, workers will be engaging in bridge and earthwork activities at Sabine Creek and FM 35. Adding to overnight disruptions, pavement placing activities will occur on the westbound left lane from Fate Main PL to FM 3549, while embankment removals are slated for the eastbound left lane at FM 3549.
Daytime travelers are not spared either, as U-turns at John King and FM 3549 will be closed from 9 AM to 3 PM beginning tomorrow through Saturday, September 13. During these same hours, flagging operations for drainage work and bridge activities are scheduled for FM 548. Moreover, lane restrictions on frontage roads will be in place for embankment and hot mix placements, and a daytime flagging operation will take place on the eastbound frontage road from FM 551 to Erby Campbell for barrier relocations.
