
Hawaiʻi Island authorities have taken a Kamuela man into custody, following a search of his residence that uncovered a considerable amount of illegal drugs. The raid, conducted on the morning of September 25, led to the arrest of 46-year-old Joel Gorai, as reported by the Hawai'i Police Department.
Diving into the heart of the matter, the search warrant executed at Gorai's home resulted in the seizure of a range of controlled substances. These include 24.16 grams of methamphetamine, 21.7 grams of cocaine, and vastly, 381.7 grams of marijuana. Alongside these, officers also found 17.2 grams of marijuana edibles, 14 grams of marijuana concentrates specifically designed to always be used in vapes, and 50 grams of Psilocybin. The police didn't stop at drugs; they found an assortment of drug paraphernalia, which included digital scales and both unused and used zip packets.
After discussions with the Hawai‘i County Prosecutor’s Office, Gorai is now facing multiple charges. The list of accusations includes four counts of second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, one count of second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, two counts of first-degree promotion of a harmful drug, and two counts of fourth-degree promotion of a harmful drug. Joel Gorai's bail is set at $143,025.00, and he currently remains detained and will soon make his initial court appearance.
