Kennesaw's own verdant oasis, Smith-Gilbert Gardens, is gearing up for a feast for the senses with its upcoming Harvest Gathering: A Garden to Table Dining Experience, slated for November 2, from 5 to 7 p.m., where guests will be treated to a three-course dinner with ingredients plucked from the cusp of the season, each course thoughtfully paired with a wine that both complements and elevates the fresh fare.
The culinary journey will be under the guidance of 1885 Grill's Executive Chef Lauren McCormick, and according to the city's announcement, the evening's menu will gratify with a roasted beet and goat cheese salad allied with pinot noir, and the family-style main course promising filet mignon alongside sweet potato mash and assorted roasted veggies matched with a robust cabernet, the dinner will conclude on a sweet note with a cheesecake dressed in apple and pear, proposed with sauvignon blanc, in addition, a cash bar will be open for further beverage needs.
For those in pursuit of exclusivity, VIP tickets are an available indulgence which grants early access to the caress of greenery from 4 to 5 p.m., a spot of preferred seating, a beverage to start off the evening, and a private tour led by none other than Dave Simpson, the Executive Director himself, guiding through the living tapestry that is the garden.
As the night transcends a mere dining event, transforming into an act of support, all proceeds from the experience will fortify the Smith-Gilbert Gardens Foundation; this integral non-profit endeavors to foster both the botanical magnificence of the gardens and the essential educational programming like the ones that engage youth with the natural world, the dedicated garden staff will also be present to educate and offer additional opportunities for contributions.
Garden chic with a twist of autumn is the theme of the night's attire, and guests are prompted to either rideshare or carpool, mindful of the limited nature of the venue's parking options - the main lot resides off Pine Mountain Road, yet those requiring easier access can find it behind the venerable Hiram Butler House. Regardless of the whims of weather, the event is steadfast in its promise of memorable proceedings, albeit, tickets are nonrefundable and designed for the decisively committed, with general admission priced at $125 while the VIP experience ascends to $150.
