The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced that the construction project on Route MM at the Union Pacific Railroad overpass near Labadie is now expected to extend into early 2026. The project was initially planned for completion in fall this year but encountered unexpected soil stability issues requiring additional earthwork.
The Missouri Department of Transportation reported that digging efforts in late July revealed the stability concerns, leading to further assessments and a revised timeline. Detailed soil and stability analysis completed in last month resulted in a modified work plan. New stabilizing earthwork is scheduled to begin the week of September 22, after which work on the retaining wall and roadway realignment will continue.
The closure and delays affect local traffic as Missouri Department of Transportation continues work to address the unanticipated conditions. The department stated it will keep the public updated on progress as the project moves forward.
